It's not just a bit of a landmark app for the Windows Phone platform, the Spotify app is excellent in its own right (especially on a handset like the Lumia 800 with good speakers).
Enjoy playlists you've already set up, search for tracks to listen to or add them to a specific playlist, or listen to friends' playlists.
You can stream tracks or save playlists to your phone to listen offline, you can go back and see what you've listened to recently, and while Spotify has its own player with options for sharing and starring tracks you can also use the standard Windows Phone volume and play controls without switching back to the app.

The what's new albums aren't limited to the six tiles you can see on screen; keep hitting refresh for another selection. About the only option from the desktop client we can't find is being able to rename a playlist; new playlists get the name of the first track, album or artist you add.

It shines as a concerted effort to adapt the essential functionality of Facebook.com onto the iPhone and iPod Touch while adding perks distinct to the mobile experience. Facebook has expended a lot of time and energy to make the application mirror the interaction you can achieve online, and to make the interface easily navigable. Facebook accomplishes the latter with a new screen from which you can launch a total of nine activities, and read notifications as well.

We're also impressed by the application's ability to manage photos (and video, if you're on an iPhone 3GS) from your phone--deleting and creating albums from the phone instead of just viewing them. Other interactive qualities include RSVPing to events, changing your profile picture, and seeing friends of friends. You're also able to monitor birthdays--a highly requested addition--and view Pages you subscribe to. Another major new feature is the integrated Web browser, which keeps the Facebook experience within the Facebook app. In previous versions, clicking a link would open the Web page in the Safari browser, forcing you to leave the application and open it again to resume your place.
The logical design and sharp images make fulfilling your socializing obligations effortless, from reading and updating status messages, writing on walls, and composing and responding to messages in the in-box. The app is still not as robust as Facebook.com, of course: it still doesn't let you play with third-party apps. However, this version brings you closer than ever to capturing Facebook's real-time social networking from a mobile device.

Note Everything falls somewhere between a basic, single-purpose notepad app and a richer, do-it-all note taker like Evernote. It's solid and stable, and, depending on the functionality you seek, it might be just what you're looking for.
Once you get started, the first thing you may notice is that Note Everything can punch out several different types of notes including Text notes, Paint notes, Voice notes, and Barcode notes. If you install the free Everything GDocs companion app, you'll even be able to import Google documents as notes (as well as export notes to Google Docs). If you're willing to shell out around $4 to upgrade to Pro, you'll gain even more capabilities, like Photo notes and Checklists. The variety here is impressive.

In addition to its rich note-taking capabilities, Note Everything offers a few nice touches that really give the app some polish. To help keep your myriad notes organized, there's a powerful folder system that gives you the flexibility to create new folders and subfolders and move things around. Also, the app is highly customizable. From the Preferences pane, you can change everything from the text color of notes to the layout of the app's title bar (the Pro version offers even more options). And, finally, the app is great at sharing. You can send notes directly to your Android calendar or share via Twitter, Facebook, Gmail, SMS, or any of your phone's other installed applications.
Ultimately, Note Everything is a great download that really stands out next to many of the other basic note takers out there. It's multidimensional and flexible, and even comes with a few nice widgets for easy note-taking right from your home screen.

YouTube for Mobile is a simple, fairly fast, and well-designed application for a variety of Windows Mobile phones that support landscape and portrait views. You'll search for videos through the search bar at the top of the screen, or through Top Rated, Most Viewed, or Most Recent categories. The results are displayed in a horizontal ticker, where you'll view a thumbnail image from each video and read the blurb and ratings below. In the Menu options, you'll find a shortcut key to return to the Home page, a shortcut to search for videos related to your current pick, and tips tucked away in a help menu.

YouTube videos loaded quickly in our tests and played in landscape mode. You can tap to call up the Back button and controls to pause, skip, and adjust the volume; otherwise the video will play full screen. Note that playback quality will vary by device and your connection strength. YouTube's videos will chew through data, so having a monthly data subscription is strongly recommended before downloading the application. YouTube's community aspect and saving favorites are missing from the mobile version. Here's another missed opportunity: search suggestions to keep mobile watchers from invariably awkward typing (and typos.) However, it's good enough as it is that any YouTube fan will find Google's mobile application an easy way to get a video fix.
